Australia’s Pure Distillery Company has launched what it claims is the world's first natural butter flavoured vodka, 666 Autumn Butter Vodka, which the company developed with help from local bartenders.
The new product is the distiller's first foray into flavoured vodka. It was made from a combination of pot distilled vodka and Tasmania butter that is sourced during autumn from a dairy farm next door to the distillery. It is hand made using a slow, low-heat fat-washing process with no colours, preservatives or artificial flavours.
“We are proud that Australian bartenders are the first in the world to have access to this unique flavour,” Pure Distillery Company president and CEO, Dean Lucas, said.
“We know that they will make 666 Autumn Butter Vodka a feature in their favourite cocktails, and they will embrace the newest member of our vodka family as their own, as they have done with our 666 Pure.”
As part of the development of the new product, the company held three small industry tastings over the course of a week – at Lily Blacks in Melbourne, Canvas Club in Brisbane and with the Keystone Group in Sydney.
Eighteen bartenders, managers, industry professionals and media were given six prototypes of the product to taste, test and evalutate, with the company using the feedback to finalise the recipe and ensure the end result reflected the needs of the trade.
“We take great pleasure in being able to share the evolution of our product with the Australian bar industry. The great thing about being an independent Australian spirit is that we can work with the community to create products that are uniquely Australian.”
