Carlton and United Breweries has started a national rollout of a heritage Victoria Bitter can.
The limited edition can pays tribute to the brand's first ever steel can, which was introduced in 1958.
Victoria Bitter was first released in a can to help keep the beer cool and a spokeswoman for CUB said: “We do releases like this to celebrate a brand that has been around for more than 100 years – and why not do it in cool retro style?
"The steel can was bigger than its modern day version and harder to open, but the limited edition has the 'modern' ring pull.
"Victoria Bitter has been around for more than a hundred years and we think people enjoy seeing some of the retro material rolling out."
CUB has assured drinkers that the liquid inside the heritage can is still exactly the same VB as usual.
CUB said the heritage can would provide a fun talking point for drinkers and something of interest for the beer category and retailers over the next few months.
The beer is terrible, I have been going over Geelong looking for the dark green cans and found one place. I asked the guy if he had any complaints about the old cans and he said yes and he had spoken to the sales rep. and he said they had quite a few complaints. Been drinking this beer for nearly forty years.
