Craft beer retailer Beer Cartel has launched the 2017 Australian Craft Beer Survey, which is aimed at better understanding the attitudes of Australia’s craft beer drinkers.
This is second year the study has taken place and Beer Cartel is hoping to build on the 6500 craft beer drinkers who took part in the 2016 survey. Director of Beer Cartel, Richard Kelsey, said that the survey will help businesses throughout the craft beer industry and will also provide a gauge of consumer sentiment towards craft beer ownership and the issue of independence which has been highly topical of late.
“There has been significant coverage in the media of late about the role big breweries are playing in craft beer, with a number of buy-outs in Australia and overseas. Plus on top of this the Craft Beer Industry Association (CBIA) recently changed its constitution, voting to remove large brewers from its membership and changing its name to the Independent Brewers Association.
“We’re taking an open view going in and will let beer drinkers decide on their opinion towards this. Is it a good thing, or a bad thing? We’ll soon know either way,’” Kelsey said.
The survey takes around five minutes to complete and all those who take part will go into a draw to win a prize of $500 to spend on craft beer.
Kelsey also said that the results of the research will be made public to support and help grow the industry. In addition, Beer Cartel will also offer businesses the opportunity to better understand their own customer base, helping to deliver on the wants and needs of their customers.
