The contrasting wood finishes embraced by Glenmorangie in its portfolio of single malt whiskies were showcased in an exclusive tasting hosted by global brand ambassador David Blackmore (pictured) last week.
Alongside Glenmorangie The Original and Glenmorangie 18YO, the Glenmorangie Secret Society dinner included tastings of the Nectar d'Or (Sauternes cask), Quinta Ruban (port cask), Lasanta (Oloroso cask) and Signet whiskies, the latter of which is made with high roasted chocolate malt.
Blackmore told TheShout that Glenmorangie prides itself on being an innovator in wood finishing and extra maturation.
"That's what's important to us and leading the industry in new, creative and of course delicious single malts," he said.
"Some of our competitors in the industry are very traditional. Our tradition is about being different and innovative."
Held at Black By Ezard at Sydney's The Star and attended by trade and media, the evening also included samples of two limited edition Glenmorangie whiskies that were never released in Australia – Finealta and Artein.
"The good news is that it's looking very likely next year's limited private edition will be available in Australia," Blackmore told TheShout.
