Wine Communicators of Australia has opened up entries for its prestigious Wine Communicator Awards, with a closing date of Friday September 2.
Entries are invited for 10 categories, including: Best Wine Marketing Communications Campaign (Individual or Team), Best Wine Blog or Podcast, Best Published Feature Article or Wine Column, Best Wine Serial Publication, Best New Wine Book, Best Wine Website or App, Best Wine-themed Event, Best Wine Communicator – Cellar Door, Best Wine Educator, and Best Wine Student.
Each category will be reviewed by an expert panel of judges before a shortlist of finalists is announced. A winner in each category will then be chosen from the shortlist in consultation with the WCA Board.
The flagship prize of Wine Communicator of the Year will be awarded from these category winners, with the 2021 award going to Katie Spain.
“The last few years have been a rollercoaster for everyone so to be named Wine Communicator of the Year during a global pandemic was humbling and just the non-Covid-related booster I needed. Honestly, I’m still pinching myself,” Spain said.
“To be recognised for telling heartfelt stories made it all worthwhile. The award made the fire in this writer’s belly (and fingertips) burn stronger.”
Previous Wine Communicators of the Year include: Barossa Grape & Wine Association, Gourmet Traveller Wine, Katie Spain, Tyson Stelzer, Gill Gordon-Smith, Jeni Port, Huon Hooke, Jane Ferrari, James Halliday, Max Allen and Campbell Mattinson.
Category finalists will be announced on October 14, with an awards ceremony hosted on November 23.
