Eastside Unlocked will celebrate ‘the very best of Sydney’s inner-east’ with music, drag, food, art and performances held across October.
The festival will be located in Potts Point, Surry Hills, Darlinghurst and Woolloomooloo, with over 80 different events held at 35 locations.
Lorraine Lock, Manager of Eastside Sydney, commented on the month’s festivities.
“Eastside Sydney has so much to offer when it comes to culture, live performance, food, drink and more.
“We’re inviting Sydney to rediscover Eastside’s world-class restaurants, art galleries, cosy cocktail bars and iconic nightlife venues.
“Eastside Unlocked shines a spotlight on the very best of the precinct and the many unique venues that call Eastside home,” Lock said.
Standouts from the October program include a Caribbean Festival at Rosie Campbell’s in Surry Hills; life drawing at Ching-a-Lings in Darlinghurst; a Natural Beer Festival at Bitter Phew in Darlinghurst; Murder Mystery nights at Grove Bar in Potts Point; a Fashion Feast at Ezra in Potts Point; and a Rosé Festival at the Winery in Surry Hills.
An immersive augmented reality art walk around the Inner East will also be held, with artworks coming to life through the Eyejack smart phone app. In total, there will be 15 artworks to uncover, with the walk designed as a treasure hunt.
The final week of the festival will be dedicated to the spooky season, with a series of Halloween events scheduled.
These include a Haunted House party with Burlesque Entertainment at Surly’s American Tavern in Surry Hills; Spooky Halloween Queer Cabaret at Dulcie’s Kings Cross; La Vampire Du Nuit at Claire’s Kitchen at le Salon in Surry Hills; Halloween Drag Brunch at Bar Nina in Darlinghurst; and a Halloween in the Honky Tonk event at Shady Pines in Darlinghurst.
The festival is funded by the NSW Government as part of the CBD Revitalisation Program.
“It’s going to be a fun four weeks!” Lock summarised.
