Murray Darling winemaker Neqtar Wines has announced the acquisition of Salisbury and Barramundi, former brands of Evans & Tate’s portfolio.

The wines for the Salisbury and Barramundi brands have been produced at Neqtar’s Irymple winery for some years. Production will continue at the 35,000 tonne winery alongside existing Neqtar brands — Roberts Estate, Commissioner’s Block and Calder Grove.

Neqtar Wines Managing Director, David Thompson, said he believes there is significant potential for growth of the new brands in the domestic and export markets.

“The success of Barramundi and Salisbury to date is underpinned by substantial market penetration and strong consumer awareness,” he said.

“We are very optimistic about the benefits this development will bring to Neqtar Wines, and we are extremely excited about taking the brands to the domestic and export markets.”

Neqtar wines, part of the Neqtar Group of Companies, has secured the brands as a consequence of the Evans & Tate receivership late last year.
