The FIFA Women’s World Cup trophy visited the Barossa Valley as part of the biggest-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy Tour on Sunday 2 July.
Jacob’s Creek, an official supporter of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, welcomed FIFA legend and 2011 champion Mana Iwabuchi and Japanese footballer Aya Miyama to officially unveil the trophy.
The trophy tour visited the Barossa Valley for the first time as part of its global journey around the 32 participating nations, before the tournament commences on July 20. Jacob’s Creek showcased their signature Double Barrel Shiraz with an afternoon of live music, wine tastings and winemaking demonstrations.
Throughout the tournament, visitors can get involved in the action at the winery with the purpose-built football pitch installation and a glass of their favourite Jacob’s Creek drop. Matildas Alumni and South Australia locals Tracey Jenkins, Jenna McCormick and Dylan Holmes were the first to take part in a penalty shootout.
Eric Thomson, Global Marketing Director of Jacob’s Creek and Pernod Ricard Winemakers, spoke about the opportunity to bring together fans of the game. “We are beyond thrilled to see the FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy visiting the Barossa and spending time at Jacob’s Creek Cellar Door.”
“We’re excited for the local community to come together over a drop worth sharing and celebrate what will be a historic event.”
