The South Australia Wine Industry Association (SAWIA) has opened entries for the two annual excellence awards: the Work Health & Safety Excellence Awards and the Environmental Excellence Awards.
The WHS Excellence Awards recognise wineries and industry professionals who have demonstrated innovation in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment, and the Environmental Excellence Awards honour wine businesses that have made demonstratable contributions to environmental sustainability and conservation.
Inca Lee, chief executive of SAWIA, spoke to the importance of the awards.
“The SAWIA Excellence Awards provide a positive platform to acknowledge the South Australian wine industry’s significant achievements in environmental stewardship and worker safety,” Lee said.
“The awards program also helps us to identify environmental and safety issues facing the Australian wine industry and community, so that we can find and share practical solutions to those issues,” Lee added.
Kay Brothers, Treasury Wine Estates and Cameron Loprete of Treasury Wine Estates were the recipients of the 2022 WHS Excellence Awards
“Despite the challenges we currently face, these awards serve as a reminder of the innovation, resilience and dedication exhibited by our members,” Lee noted.
The 2022 winners of the Environmental Excellence Awards were Taylors Wines, Henschke and Treasury Wine Estates / Hayes Family Wines.
