Irish Whiskey Liqueur Shanky’s Whip has signed a new distribution deal with global drinks distributor Amber Beverage Group.
The move signals increased focus on major global markets for the brand as it eyes expansion in Australia. Tim Dunlop, commercial director for Shanky’s Whip, is enthusiastic about the opportunity.
“Our partnership with Amber Beverage Group will take our distribution footprint to the next level and play an intrinsic part of our growth ambitions in Australia. Shanky’s sits in a unique place in the market; it boasts the quality credentials more discerning consumers expect from an Irish whiskey, coupled with the accessibility of liqueurs and a well-developed, fun brand proposition. We expect it to take its rightful place on shelves and bar backs in the coming months, as our partnership starts to take flight,” Dunlop said.
Tanya Mah, head of marketing at Amber Beverage, echoed the sentiment.
“Shanky’s Whip will benefit from our nationwide distribution network in Australia, which includes local representation in all states. In the year ahead we’ll be firmly focused on growing the brand in major and specialist retail outlets and hospitality venues while encouraging trial.”
Shanky’s Whip is created by a blend of Irish spirits and aged pot still whiskey, with buttery, vanilla notes and a sweet spice and butterscotch finish. It is used for classic cocktails such as the Old Fashioned and Espresso Martini, served over ice, or utilised in shot menus.
Distilled in County Cavan, and blended and bottled by Shanky and Shireman under bond in Ireland, the drink spans the gap between the growing categories of Irish whiskey and liqueurs.
“Irish whiskey exports topped one billion in value in 2022, as the sector enjoyed a clear renaissance globally and in Australia. Coupled with appetite for liqueurs overall, we’re looking forward to introducing the brand to our customers and expect it to be embraced by the trade,” Mah concluded.
