Now in its seventh year, the Wine Communicators of Australia (WCA) Wine Media Cadetship is now open for applications for the 2024 cadet position.
Aiming to foster emerging talent in wine communications, the cadetship is directed towards young people looking to move into or develop their wine writing and communication. The cadetship enriches the Australian wine communications landscape by creating proud ambassadors of Australian wine to promote the industry on the international stage.
The successful cadet will benefit from a number of unique opportunities over six months, gaining experience and insight in South Australia’s wine industry. Relevant skills will be built through hosted visits to SA wine regions, wine writing development sessions with experienced writers, and multimedia skills development with digital and creative asset experts.
The cadet will also write content to be published on the Great Wine Capitals website, steward at the Royal Adelaide Wine Show and attend the awards lunch, as well as attending other key food and wine events across SA, including the Best of Wine Tourism Awards.
In addition, this year’s cadetship will include a trip to Verona, Italy in October 2024, accompanying the Adelaide contingent to the Great Wine Capitals Annual Conference.
The 2024 WCA Wine Media Cadetship is supported by Great Wine Capitals – Adelaide, South Australia, and the cadetship is open to South Australian residents who meet the criteria, which are listed on the WCA website.
Applications close at 11.59pm on 18 September, and a shortlist of candidate will be interviewed in Adelaide at the end of September. The 2024 Winner will be officially announced by the WCA on 4 October at RAHS Royal Adelaide Wine Show. The cadetship will run from October 2024 to March 2025.
