As part of its Italian Immersion Wine Program, Calabria Family Wine Group rewarded five trade customers with a trip to Northern Italy to discover the region’s fine wines and learn more about Calabria’s Italian brand portfolio.
Customers from a mix of retail and on-premise enjoyed a six-day wine immersion experience earlier this month with Calabria’s esteemed international partners Fontanafredda and Canti Prosecco.
Honouring the Italian heritage of the Australian wine group, which was established in Griffith in 1945 by Italian immigrants Francesco and Elisabetta Calabria, the experience began in Barolo where customers experienced the northern Italian region’s vineyards and underground cellars, sampling back vintage Barolo and Prosecco.
The program took in the sights of the cathedral-like Magnificat cellar, where Canti’s wines are aged in Durmast barrels before being released for sale, and winemaking facilities.
Commenting on the experience, which rewarded customers from the 2023/24 incentive program, Calabria said: “At Calabria Family Wine Group, we are committed to creating unforgettable experiences and opportunities for our partners. Make Calabria Family Wine Group your preferred wine partner to experience more amazing opportunities like this.”
Calabria Family Wine Group is responsible for the Australian distribution of Italian brands Canti, Fontanafredda and Librandi, in addition to Portugal port house Dow’s, Argentinian winery Dona Paula, French Champagne producer Champagne Deutz and Provence Rosé’ Hecht & Bannier.
The latest additions to Calabria’s portfolio include Ponting Wines, the brainchild of Australian cricketer Rick Ponting and winemaker Ben Riggs with whom Calabria strook a distribution deal earlier this month, and New Zealand brand Whitehaven.
