Independent Western Australia craft brewery, Beerfarm, will commence work on a brewery and taphouse in Glenworth Valley on the NSW Central Coast, which will supply Beerfarm beers throughout the East Coast and increase Beerfarm’s overall production by 30 per cent.
The announcement follows approval for the site’s Development Application, which promises a brewery with proposed production capacity of two million litres per year.
The build will be spread over two phases: The Phase One build of Beerfarm’s brewery will start in early 2025, with beer brewing underway by mid-year. Phase Two will focus on the venue, which will start in the latter half of 2025, aiming for doors to be open to the public around mid-2026.
Beerfarm, Co-Founder and Director, Ian Atkins said: “Beerfarm is excited to expand into Glenworth Valley, aiming to contribute positively to the local social and business community. The project’s design, construction, and operations will create opportunities for local suppliers and workers, fostering collaboration and economic growth.
“Our goal is to support Glenworth Valley’s development as a premier destination for day-trippers from the Central Coast, Newcastle, Sydney, and beyond, further cementing its reputation as an exciting location for visitors.”
Beerfarm said it is hoping to replicate the success it has seen at its Metricup venue in Margaret River, which has become a leading brewery and hospitality destination since opening in 2015. According to Destination NSW, the Central Coast welcomed 5.2 million people in 2024, with tourism expenditure reaching $1.4bn. Beerfarm said the new site will employ around 40 to 50 people, and that it hopes the venue will become a hub for both locals and tourists.
Atkins added: “This new Beerfarm site on the east coast represents our dedication to growth while staying true to our roots. We look forward to becoming a part of this wonderful community and sharing our passion for great beer and good times with everyone here.”
The Glenworth Valley site is another piece in Beerfarm’s national and international growth plans, which has included in 2024 the purchase of Feral Brewing’s Bassendean production facilities from Coca-Cola Europacific Partners earlier this year and the tripling of its production capacity.
