Scott Davidson will step down as Managing Director of BWS at the end of November, bringing to a close more than five years in the role during a period of major change and growth for the business.
The news was confirmed today by Endeavour Group, which said a search process is now underway to appoint his successor.
Davidson will remain in the role through the lead-up to the busy Christmas trading season, ensuring continuity before his departure.
Endeavour Group Executive Chairman Ari Mervis acknowledged Davidson’s significant contribution to the business, particularly in the wake of the group’s 2021 demerger from Woolworths.
“Scott has made an enormous contribution to the Group as Endeavour’s inaugural Managing Director of BWS following the company’s demerger from Woolworths in 2021,” Mervis said.
“On behalf of the Board, I offer my thanks and appreciation to Scott for his leadership of BWS, Australia’s largest and most convenient drinks retailer. Scott led a progressive transformation agenda across e-commerce, in-store retail renewal and marketing and partnerships at BWS, and we wish him well for the future.”
Reflecting on his decision, Davidson said: “After an association with Endeavour Group businesses that stretches back to roles with ALH in 2005, I’ve decided now is the right time to hand the baton to drive the next phase of growth at BWS. After such a great tenure with the company, it’s time for me to move on to the next opportunity.
“For more than five years I have had the privilege to lead the dedicated and passionate BWS team that serves communities right across Australia.”
Davidson’s leadership period was marked by substantial investment in customer experience, digital transformation, and store network evolution, positioning BWS as a key player in a highly competitive and rapidly changing retail liquor landscape.
The business community will be watching closely as Endeavour Group selects a new leader to take BWS into its next chapter.
