The South Australian chapter of the AHA today announced a rise in the recommended price of tap and packaged beer in the state.
The recommended price rise is 6 cents for a 200ml butcher, 9 cents for a 285ml schooner and 13 cents for a 425ml pint. The rise in the price of bottled beers varies accordingly.
“The rise in recommended beer prices is attributed to the effect of CPI adjustments to excise [tax], a subsequent increase in wholesale prices reflecting brewer and distiller cost recoveries and cost recovery by retailers for such items as wages, rents, cost of goods, taxes and charges, etc.” said AHA SA general manager, Ian Horne.
AHA member hotels in South Australia were advised of the new recommended prices yesterday and will receive additional pricing information, including rises in the recommended price of spirits in the coming weeks when the AHA Licensees’ Liquor Guide is distributed by mail.
The AHA stressed recommended prices are “a guide only” as licensees are free to charge “whatever price they choose”, be it higher or lower than the recommendation.
