Murray’s Craft Brewing Company from NSW’s Mid-North Coast has won four medals at the Sydney Royal Beer Competition.
The boutique brewer won gold for Murray’s Grand Cru, the only hybrid Belgian Trippel and Golden Strong Ale brewed in Australia. Silver medals were awarded to Murray’s Icon 2IPA and Murray’s Anniversary Ale 2, while a bronze was awarded to Murray’s Sassy Belgian Blond pale ale.
“We’re chuffed that Australia’s most extreme beers — all brewed by Murray’s — took gold and silver medals at this year’s Sydney Royal Beer Competition,” said Murray’s founder and proprietor, Murray Howe.
“Even five years ago it would have been unheard of for these types of beers to be recognised as among the best in the country. Australia is getting excited about great craft beer and this is reflected by the increasing demand for our craft beer across the country.”
The Sydney Royal Beer Competition was introduced as part of the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show last year to recognise excellence in Australian beer production. No gold medals were awarded in the inaugural year though Murray’s was awarded a silver medal for its Nirvana Pale Ale.
