J&J O’Brien Hoteliers Group (JJO) and 2009 AHA Australian Chef of the Year, Daniel Fountain, will be hosting the second NSW City versus Country Apprentice Chef Challenge from July 18 to 20.
The initiative aims to support both rural and urban apprentice chefs and show their industry leaders and the public their culinary talents and expertise.
This year JJO is making the event even bigger with 20 apprentice chefs (10 city and 10 country) vying for both team and individual titles.
This year’s event, which will be held at Jordons Seafood Restaurant on July 20, will be open to the public for the first time.
Tickets cost $60 per person and go on sale from May 1 for the four-course meal with alcohol included and gift bags for each guest.
Guests will be an integral part of the night’s competition with each guest voting for their favourite team.
There will also be a panel of three celebrity chef judges and a well-known MC for the evening.
The competition will run for three days with all expenses from accommodation through to special dinners, transport and uniforms taken care of.
The NSW City versus Country Apprentice Chef Challenge gives apprentice chefs the opportunity to work with leading chefs for three days, creating their own team menus, which they will then cook for more than 180 guests at the final dinner.
