The Australian Hotels Association (WA) has congratulated the WA State Government on the announcement of an annual $20 million increase to the State’s tourism and events budget.
AHA(WA) CEO, Bradley Woods, said the Liberal National Government has reversed the trend of declining tourism funding and committed to investing in major new markets and events throughout WA.
“This budget has delivered events funding with a commitment of an extra $60 million over the next four years, which will ignite the flame for the development and support of WA home grown events,” he Woods said.
“The hotel and hospitality industry looks forward to more details from Tourism Western Australia in relation to where and how the funding will be invested.”
Woods said the State Government’s commitment to investing an extra $10 million annually into regional-specific events complemented an expansive strategy of investing in activating the China market and new aviation services.
“Investment in supporting events in the regions will drive leisure tourism in those areas and help revitalize the State’s tourism industry,” he said.
“This budget represents the most significant investment in the State’s tourism industry in history and is a great step towards revitalising Western Australia’s tourism market for all Western Australians to enjoy.”
