A Sydney pub will be among the entrants to Australia's most influential individual cooking competition, set to run later this month at Foodservice Australia.
The Chef Australian Championship Competition 2012 has been a highlight since debuting at the 2008 Foodservice Expo, and will again feature as the most influential individual cooking competition in the country.
The event attracts entrants from all segments of the hospitality market, with senior chefs competing for $10,000 first prize and apprentices for $2000.
The high-pressure competition is designed to determine who can cook under pressure, with chefs given one hour to prepare three dishes from a ‘black box’ of ingredients, competing in front of a live audience against other chefs, judges and the clock in a four-station kitchen.
Other competitions at the show include the Global Pizza Challenge, with the winner of the Australian final going on to compete against international winners for the Global Pizza Champion title.
Marketing executive, David Ward, from hot entrant The Australian Hotel & Brewery, spoke to TheShout.
"At the Australian Brewery we are proud to be raising the bar in pub fare. Our already award winning pizzas are a centrepiece of our menu and we are expecting to do well in the Foodservice Pizza Competition."
Foodservice Australia runs May 27–29 at the Royal Hall of Industries, Moore Park, Sydney, 10am – 5pm.
