The national Australian Hotels Association has announced a successor to its current CEO, with the incumbent Des Crowe to step down in February at the end of his current contract.
Stephen Ferguson will take the reins next year, stepping up from his position as chief executive of the Brisbane Racing Club.
Having served in the role since 2010, Crowe told TheShout the transition makes good sense for the association.
“I have spent ten years with the AHA in different roles,” he said.
“This represents a good opportunity for the AHA to have a new CEO under the new Coalition Government.”
Crowe said he has “no immediate plans from here, and [is] looking forward to something of a sabbatical”.
The AHA national executive and its national president Peter Burnett officially welcomed Ferguson to the position, where he will play a central role in continuing to advance the interests of the Australian hotel and tourism sectors.
