TheShout is saddened to learn of the sudden death this week of respected Sydney hotel broker, Adam Spencer-Carr.
Spencer-Carr transacted on numerous Sydney pubs, bars and restaurants over the last 12 years, most recently as a partner and hotel brokerage specialist at Sydney real estate agency, Oxford Commercial, which acquired his business Spencer-Carr Property in 2012.
Prior to that Spencer-Carr was a director of liquor and hospitality industry broker Manenti Quinlan & Associates.
He passed away aged 47 on Sunday in unexpected and tragic circumstances, leaving behind his wife Philippa and four children.
Long-time associate Joe Saleh, owner of Paddington pub Four in Hand, paid tribute to his close friend.
“He was just a tremendous fellow – very giving with his time and advice,” Saleh told TheShout.
“It was not about the money with him, he had a real enjoyment for the industry, and a passion that made him a real character.”
“Beyond being a broker, a lot of people would have regarded him as a friend, as I did. It is almost surreal to think he is gone.”
Oxford Commercial partner Marc Marano told TheShout: “We are extremely saddened by the loss of not only one of our strongest agents but also a member of the Oxford family. He will be very sadly missed.”
We at TheShout always enjoyed our chats with Adam, who contacted us just this month to report his sales of the Blaxland Tavern in the Blue Mountains and the Kurrajong Hotel in Erskineville.
We’d like to express our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

Adam was a great mate and an industry professional, he always new what was happening and had an inside to what was happening next.
A friend lost to early.
