Paddington’s Hotel London has joined the list of venues in the Sydney precinct to hit the market in recent months.
After seven years at Hotel London, publican Ben May has reluctantly decided to move on from the stalwart venue, telling TheShout “it feels like time”.
May, who lives on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, has determined to instead concentrate on his newly renovated Manly Wharf Hotel.
The London has similarly been recently renovated and since November has hosted a thriving pop-up of the Chur Burger franchise.
The pub is located within walking distance of the SCG and Sydney Football Stadium and May said he is selling at the best time of the year.
“The winter months work well for the London, with the rugby tests, Super 15s, Swannies playing at home – and of course, the Chooks.
“But after seven years, it feels like the right time to part with it.”
Ray White Hotels is managing the campaign, with Asia-Pacific director Andrew Jolliffe citing extensive interest already for the freehold, particularly from Melbourne, and by both hotel industry and astute investors.
Jolliffe has been involved with several of the pubs that have transacted in the area already this year.
