Crime Stoppers Australia has joined forces with Redline disposable breathalysers to make motorists think twice before driving after consuming alcohol.
“Crime Stoppers is extremely encouraging of any initiative that seeks to reduce drink-driving offences in Australia, and we firmly believe the Redline breathalyser device, as the only disposable unit that is a certified product in accordance with Standards Australia AS 3457, provides the best avenue to achieve this,” said Crime Stoppers chairman, Peter Rice.
Redline disposable breathalysers are a simple way for drinkers to gauge if they are under or over the blood alcohol content limit. The product has proved successful in several overseas test markets over the last 15 years but cannot be relied on for legal evidence.
“Stocking Redline breathalysers will provide retail outlets with the opportunity to empower their customers to make the right, informed choice,” said Redline general manager, Nick Clews. “We anticipate initial consumer appeal to be strong and sales momentum will be maintained via various awareness programs.”
The Redline breathalyser will be available nationally in liquor stores, service stations, supermarkets and pharmacies from April. The RRP for a two-unit pack is $8.99. A single unit in a cellophane sachet retailing at $4.99 will be launched for the on-premise sector by June.
