Entries for the Australian leg of the Bacardí Legacy cocktail competition close on 28 September, 2016, midnight AEST.
The competition was established to challenge the best contemporary bartenders in the world to create their own cocktail Legacy – that will stand the test of time and ensure that both bartender and beverage are remembered like the illustrious classic cocktails of the past.
Following in the footsteps of Fred Siggins, Alissa Gabriel and this year’s Australian Legacy title-holder, Andrew Bennett, the winner of the Australian Grand Final in 2017 will go on to represent Australia at the Bacardí Legacy Global Final in Berlin, Germany.
For the first time, the Bacardi Family Reserve, Bacardí Ocho, will be included in the Bacardí Legacy Global Cocktail Competition. Bacardí Ocho is the oldest, private rum blend in the world, remaining the solve preserve of the Bacardí family until 1996. This addition is a competition game changer, extending the possibilities and inspiration of cocktail legacy creation.
Bartenders can access the entry form via Facebook or email (bmalegacy@bacardi.com) to receive the direct link. You will also need to submit a photo of your original cocktail.
In the lead up to entries closing, Bacardí’s Brand Ambassadors will be hosting masterclasses in all major cities for competition hopefuls. Some past Legacy legends including Andrew Bennett, Fred Siggins, Alissa Gabriel, Igor Pachi and Peter Hollands will be attending event to offer insider tips and tricks for success.
- Melbourne, 12 September at Garden State Hotel
- Perth, 13 September at Lucky Chan’s
- Adelaide, 14 September at Casablabla
From the entries, the Top 50 will be selected to participate in the first Bacardí Legacy Australian National Tasting Tour in October 2016. These competitors will then be whittled down through a series of challenging rounds until the Australian Legacy champion is decided.
