Accolade Wines has appointed wine industry professional Freddie Choong as commercial general manager for the Asia Pacific region.
Choong has 19 years experience in the wine industry, including working as managing director, Asia, for Southcorp Wines and managing director for Allied Domecq World Wines in Asia.
Accolade Wines chief executive officer, Troy Christensen, said Choong’s wealth of knowledge and experience in the Asian wine market would be a great asset to Accolade Wines.
“We see Asia as an enormous opportunity for us and the appointment of a senior manager with a Singapore base is a measure of our confidence in the growth potential in this market,” he said.
“We believe that in order to be successful in the many different markets that comprise the Asia-Pacific region we need in depth knowledge and Mr Choong brings us this operational background.”
Christensen added that Choong has an intimate understanding of the route to market for wine in Asia and an extensive network of contacts built over his years in the wine industry.
Choong will start with Accolade Wines today (Aug 1).
