The Star Entertainment Group (The Star) has announced that all its Electronic Gaming Machines (EGM) and Electronic Table Games (ETG) have been shutdown since 10pm on Saturday, following planned upgrades to prepare The Star’s systems for the introduction of cashless gaming.
In a statement to the ASX this morning The Star said all the EGMs and ETGs in each of its three properties – Treasury Brisbane, The Star Gold Coast and The Star Sydney – had been shutdown following the upgrades.
The Star said: “Following planned upgrades to The Star’s systems in readiness for the introduction of cashless gaming, certain of The Star’s systems have been disrupted due to system performance issued identified in the post-upgrade testing.”
Following the discovery of system performance issues The Star said the decision was made to close all the EGMs and ETGs in each of its three properties, adding that, as of 9am today the issue was still unresolved.
The Star added: “The decision was taken by The Star to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, and to maintain the company’s commitment to safer gambling procedures.
“The Star is working closely with its external provider Konami to address the operational issues as soon as possible and will provide an update once operations return to normal.”
At the time of writing no further updates on the shutdown have been published on the ASX.
Just before announcing the EGM shutdown, The Star had confirmed the formal appointment of Janelle Campbell as its Syndey Chief Executive Officer, after all necessary regulatory approvals had been received.
