Flavoured bourbon brand American Honey has announced the first addition to its family, American Honey Sting, made using one of the world's hottest chilli peppers.
The new bourbon is available now and is made with American Honey bourbon plus a hint of ghost pepper chilli, giving it both its name and a unique flavour. In 2007 Guinness World Records named the ghost pepper as the world's hottest, but it has since dropped down the rankings and is now just the seventh hottest chilli in the world – but it still packs a very heated punch.
Wild Turkey's Jimmy Russell, the world's longest-tenured, active master distiller, said: "I think American Honey fans are going to get a kick out of how well the heat of the ghost pepper chilli perfectly combines with the honey flavour.
"When you take a sip, you get the forward flavour smoothness and citrus of American Honey, followed by the ghost pepper chilli that has a subtle heat to it."
American Honey marketing director, Nicole Stanners, added: "With the introduction of Sting, the brand is continuing its legacy as an innovator. Initial trends in flavoured whiskey tended towards honey but we’re now seeing hotter, spicier flavours emerging. American Honey Sting, with its infusion of ghost pepper chilli, combines these trends for a unique offer."
American Honey Sting 750ml is available in a special edition gift box for $49.99 RRP (while stocks last). Brand ambassador, Oliver Stuart, recommends serving Sting mixed with dry ginger ale and fresh lime.
