Archie Rose Distilling Co has unveiled the latest addition to its Harvest Series, Mountain Yuzu Harvest Gin.

Now available to the on-premise via all good wholesalers, the limited-edition release highlights the bright, aromatic character of Victorian yuzu, grown in the high country on volcanic soils near Mount Buffalo by Jane and Brian Casey of Mountain Yuzu, specialty growers of yuzu, bergamot and chinotto citrus fruits.

Part of the Harvest Series, which first launched in 2019, the release celebrates seasonal Australian ingredients, showcasing both their provenance and the producers behind them. This year, Archie Rose focuses on the exceptional clarity and vibrant flavour found in yuzu cultivated in cool alpine conditions.

Dave Withers, Master Distiller at Archie Rose, says: “The Mountain Yuzu Harvest Gin was a fantastic opportunity to work with growers Jane and Brian Casey of Mountain Yuzu, to showcase their produce.

“We are so fortunate to be able to get hold of yuzu in this growing season which favoured smaller fruit, a boon for the distilling team. The yuzu came off the still with fantastic concentration and purity, delivering a vibrant yet deep citrus character. When paired with our juniper and traditional botanicals the gin has a generosity on the nose and an elegance on the palate which is so appealing.”

While this year’s growing season may have produced smaller fruit, the result was greater flavour intensity. Distilled with juniper and traditional botanicals, the new release offers lifted citrus florals on the nose, bright notes of mandarin, lime and bergamot on the palate, and a long finish.

Archie Rose’s Mountain Yuzu Harvest Gin was crafted to work in a range of serve. It’s ideal in a gin and tonic, or with sparkling coconut water and pineapple for a refreshing summer-style serve, and stands up well in classic cocktails such as Martinis and Vespers.
