Audrey Wilkinson will commemorate its 150th anniversary by incorporating the family crest into a special edition 150th anniversary seal on its bottles.
The Wilkinson family were among the first to plant vines in the Pokolbin region of the Hunter Valley and are recognised as pioneers of the Australian winemaking industry. In 1866, the family acquired the present site of the Audrey Wilkinson vineyard, and enjoyed great success as winemakers, predominantly producing fortified wines as was the preferred varietal of that time.
Rohan Beale, sales and marketing manager at Agnew Wines, told TheShout: “The celebrations started early with a black tie ball held in November. In typical Audrey Wilkinson style, the party went late into the night with everyone toasting to the budburst on the 150th vintage.
"In January we launched the commemorative 150th anniversary seal on our wines. The seal bears the Audrey Wilkinson family crest.
“There will also be special in-store displays to communicate the legacy of Audrey Wilkinson wines to consumers. Celebrations will continue throughout the year.”
