Sullivans Cove Whisky will once again defend its Best in the World title at the World Whiskies Awards.
The Tasmanian distiller’s French Oak expression won best Australian Single Cask Single Malt 12 years & under in Round One of the awards, while its 25th Anniversary Special Edition won Best Australian Single Malt 21 years & over.
This means both Sullivans Cove whiskies are in the running for Best Australian and Best in the World in their respective categories in the final judging rounds, announced at the end of March.
Sullivans Cove has previously won Best in the World on three occasions with its French Oak (2014 and 2019) and American Oak (2018).
Also picking up Best of Category awards was Sydney’s Archie Rose, which won Best New Make Spirit for its Six Malt New Make and Best Rye Whisky for Archie Rose Rye Malt Whisky.
Tiger Snake Whiskey Cask Strength, from Western Australia’s Great Southern Distilling Company, was named Australia’s best grain whisky in the No Age Statement class.
Adelaide Hills Distillery’s Native Grain Whiskey was named best grain whisky in the 12 Years & Under category.
Starward Twofold won best blended whisky (no age statement); Upshot Cask Strength won best corn whisky (no age statement) and Watkins Whiskey Co. Single Malt Hybrid Cask won best single malt (12 Years & Under).
The Best Australian and Best in the World winners will be announced in London at the end of March.
