The Australian Hotels Association NSW (AHA NSW) has extended the application period for its hospitality scholarship until the evening of Monday, 15 October.
The scholarship presents an excellent opportunity to young males and females in regional NSW with a $20,000 scholarship grant. The luck recipient will undertake a 2.5 year Bachelor of Business Degree (International Hotel and Resorts Management) at the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School.
AHA NSW CEO John Whelan said the extension gave young people living in the regions who want a career in hospitality more time to apply for the annual scholarship.
“We have had a huge amount of interest from across NSW for this scholarship which really does have the power to change a young person’s life,” he said.
“We’ve extended the application period for a few more days to give all young people – wherever they live in regional NSW – the chance to win this year’s scholarship.
“We are proud to give back to our regional communities through this annual scholarship, especially when many in the bush are in the grip of the drought.
“I would urge any hoteliers with promising young staff members who want a career in hospitality to encourage them to apply now – or apply on their behalf.”
Hopeful entrants keen on a hospitality career can nominate themselves, be nominated by an employer or a community member who thinks they would be a worthy recipient.
The $20,000 scholarship grant goes towards assisting in the costs of accommodation associated with the degree. The winner of the 2018 Scholarship will receive a life-changing opportunity to kick start their career. Entries for this year’s scholarship will be judged by a panel of hotel industry leaders.
Applicants can already be working in the industry – or just wanting to start out and they will undergo an interview process in Sydney in early November, with all finalists invited to the Awards for Excellence ceremony on Tuesday, 20 November 2018 where the winner will be announced.
