The Australian Hotels Association Victoria (AHA Vic) have extended the nomination period for their 2017 State Awards for Excellence.

The entry period has been extended Friday 5 May, so Victorian publicans have just over a day to nominate their venue for awards in various categories, such as Best Redeveloped Hotel and Best Sports Bar. Publicans can also nominate staff for various awards, such as Chef of the Year and Emerging Leader of the Year.

The nomination process, which was supposed to close at the end of April, has been extended to take into account the busy period over Easter and Anzac Day. This has not stopped the torrent of nominations though, with Kimberley Malcolm, manager member services, telling Australian Hotelier that there were a record number of entries this year already. At the time of publishing, 138 nominations had been received, and AHA Vic is urging all Victorian pubs to get in on the action.

“Everyone shoulf be nominated, right? It’s such a wonderful opportunity to not just showcase your pub, but also the people that drive the business,” stated Malcolm.

Award categories can be found here, with more information in the video below.
