Australian Leisure and Hospitality (ALH) Hotels has partnered with Lion to launch a new initiative to ease economic strains for beer lovers.

The campaign means drinkers can enjoy two beers for the price of one in ALH venues in eligible states (the offer is not available in Queensland or the NT).

To access the deal, drinkers must go to the website shout-your-mate.breweryduty.com and register, before showing a notification to bar staff. The offer can be redeemed for Tooheys New, Hahn SuperDry and XXXX Gold Beers, and is limited to one redemption per person.

ALH Hotels interim managing director Paul Walton said the initiative was partly a means of rewarding customers who had stuck with pubs during the pandemic, but who might be doing it tough at the moment.

“We know that people are returning to the pubs in good numbers and that is something we welcome,” Walton said.

“But we know that with the economy the way it is, it means people are tightening their belts. This is a way we can still reward those loyal customers and support them the same way they have supported us.

“These are the people that stood by us when we were forced to change the way we operated during the pandemic and it’s a way to give back.”

According to Lion’s MD, David Smith, difficult economic times mean customers are looking for a sense of familiarity when it comes to choosing a beer.

“We know that XXXX, Tooheys and Hahn are some of the most loved beers in the country,” Smith said.

“For generations they have been right at the centre of life’s sociable moments.

“These iconic brands hold a special place in Australia’s history and culture and in these uncertain times, people are returning to the beers they know and love or discovering them in the case of the younger demographic,” Smith continued.

“We can’t wait to shout a schooner of our most loved beers at some great ALH venues.”

Paul Walton, interim MD of ALH Hotels, will be taking part in the Pub Leaders Summit on Monday 24 July at Eatons Hill Hotel, discussing the current economic landscape and its affects on pub strategy. Walton will also participating in a session on staffing. To view more of the program and secure your tickets, visit the Pub Leaders Summit website.
