Gaming Technologies Association CEO Jinesh Patel.

Cashless payment technologies for gaming machines are on the way and will provide challenges and also opportunities for the hotel industry in the coming years.

The CEO of the Gaming Technologies Association Jinesh Patel will reveal what’s on the horizon in cashless gaming at the 2022 Pub Leaders Summit which takes place in Sydney in just over two weeks.

While there has been a demand for cashless payments for some time, Patel says it’s only recently that stakeholders have come together to develop a solution that meets everyone’s requirements.

In his presentation, he will provide an overview of the technology being trialed and the possible outcomes of this testing. He will also cover how cashless gaming will be experienced by patrons, what will be required to implement any new technology, and how this technology will affect operations – and bottom line.

The GTA plays an advisory role to both regulators and operator associations on this type of issue, and according to Patel, the challenge of cashless gaming tech lies in developing solutions that are both easy to use and safe for patrons and with minimal impact on the operating environment for venues.

Innovation will be a strong theme at the Pub Leaders Summit. Tech entrepreneur and me&u founder Stevan Premutico will also be there discuss the increasingly important role of technology in recovery in his Pub Leaders Summit presentation.

“Innovation is at the very heart of a return to any form of normalisation for our great industry, and we’re about to take on our biggest challenge yet – revolutionising how business is done in a centuries-old industry,” Premutico says.

“The silver lining is that our great industry has had to change fast as a result. I’ll be chatting about how businesses can create a better, more sustainable future for our hospitality.”

Another highlight of the day will be a panel session focusing on innovation and pub pivots. In the session, The Innovators: pivoting the pub model, we’ll hear from a stellar line-up of industry leaders including Sand Hill Road CEO Bianca Dawson, Odd Culture CEO James Thorpe, Australian Venue Co’s Chief Marketing Officer Kylie Moncur, and Paul Schulte of Hunger.
