The Venu Hospitality Group has acquired the Moreton Bay venue.

The Beachmere Hotel has officially changed hands after 14 years of ownership by the Comiskey Group.

The Comiskey Group portfolio includes venues such as the Eatons Hill Hotel and Sandstone Point Holiday Resort, as well as the newly opened Doonan. Before opening these venues, the Comiskey Group built the Beachmere Hotel in 2009. The group also purchased the adjacent shopping village and childcare centre.

After 14 years of ownership, the sale is an emotional one for Comiskey Group director Rob Comiskey.

“Going through the process of settlement has brought back so many fond memories at Beachmere Hotel and has reminded me of how far we have come over the years. We are sorry to see the venue go, it has been a great asset. Beachmere Hotel was one of our first pubs so it also holds a lot of sentimental value for my family too, but we are excited to see what Venu Hospitality Group do with the hotel. I’d really like to say a huge thank you to all our staff at Beachmere Hotel, your hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed. It’s been a pleasure to work with you all,” Comiskey commented.

The new owners, Venu Hospitality Group, are a Brisbane-based hospitality group. Alongside the Beachmere Hotel, the group’s venues include the Beach House Bar and Grill chain, Madame Wu, Chu the Phat, and the recently acquired Pine Beach Hotel at Emu Park. The Venu Hospitality Group’s Paul Weightman said that the Beachmere Hotel represents a great opportunity.

“We thank the Comiskey Group for the opportunity to become the new custodians of this vital community asset,” Weightman said. “The Beachmere community is anticipated to grow substantially over the medium term, and we are delighted to secure such a modern and family friendly asset to add to our portfolio.”

Though the plan is to conduct business as usual for the time being, Venu operations director Nick Rosato said locals could look forward to new events, a refreshed retail offering, and a rebranding of the drive through bottle shop to Liquor Legends.

“We look forward to welcoming the Beachmere Hotel patrons and staff into the Venu family,” he concluded.
