As part of Melbourne’s annual Good Beer Week, Garden State Hotel is teaming up with Balter Brewing Company to throw a party exclusively for the hospitality industry.
Party for the Pourers will be held on Monday 14 May, at Sand Hill Road’s flagship CBD pub, with attendance restricted to employees of the hospitality industry. There will be two levels of fun for party-goers, with the entire Balter range on the taps, plus a few specialty brews and canapés.
Andy Mullins, director of Sand Hill Road said they decided to put on this trade event with Balter in recognition of the importance of staff in running successful venues.
“The lines between ‘trade’ and ‘consumer’ are surely always evolving. Every bartender or waiter is a consumer in their downtime, more so now more than ever! We met the Balter guys a couple of years ago and immediately recognised a drive toward understanding that our bar staff are the absolute key to making a happy consumer experience.
“Good Beer Week is a brilliant, customer and producer-focused event. But every beer is poured by a person, and this is our way of saying thank you to them!”
Sand Hill Road will be active throughout Good Beer Week, partnering with several breweries at different venues, including the Balter party at Garden State; a celebration of Two Birds Brewing at Prahran Hotel; and a 4 Pines sampling session with the head brewer at Terminus Hotel in Abbotsford.
“We wish we could promote good beer through every brewery channel. But we are super stoked to get on board, this year, with these three,” stated Mullins.
As directors of one of the most successful pub groups in the country, Mullins reflected on Sand Hill Road’s beginnings many years ago, and how this party was a reflection of what has driven the group’s accomplishments.
“The boys and I have worked beer taps since we could get an RSA. It’s a long time ago now, but we’ll never forget the feeling of first mastering the tap-pour, then the till, then the customer interface and smile. There’s a lot going on in that one transaction!
“But this industry has given each of us an amazing opportunity to travel the world, meet the incredible people we’ve met and been inspired by their stories and experiences.
“Balter is just a beer, right? But beer is why we’re here.”
Party for the Pourers will be held from 6-9pm at Garden State Hotel on Monday 14 May. Hospitality employees can RSVP here or register here by Friday 11 May.
