More pubs across the country will be eligible for hats as the Good Food Guide goes national in 2018.

For the first time in its 38-year history, the Good Food Guide will visit all capital cities in every Australian state and territory – meaning pubs in Darwin, Hobart, Canberra, Adelaide and Perth can now be awarded hats for their food offerings.

The Age’s Good Food Guide launched in 1979, followed by the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide in 1984 and, most recently, the Brisbane Times Good Food Guide in 2015.

“Our defining strength, and the reason why people trust the Good Food Guide, is the independence of our critics,” said Good Food Guide 2018 co-editor Myffy Rigby. “We’re stringent when it comes to judging. That means we look at service, ambience, X-factor, and – most importantly – food, to award those all-important hats.”

“It will be really exciting to see new names and restaurants from all around Australia become hatted when the Guide is published later this year,” added Good Food Guide 2018 co-editor Roslyn Grundy.

Gastropubs from across the country will now be able to join the likes of The Bellevue, The Paddington, Cricketer’s Arms and The Dolphin (Sydney); and The Railway Hotel, The Royal Mail Hotel, Healesville Hotel and The Public Inn (Melbourne).

  1. Hi
Not only should you look at Adelaide Hotels in SA but
Similarly to the Royal Mail in Victoria it would be of interest if you looked at a stunning Restaurant in Mount Gambier South Australia
The Mount Gambier Hotel’s 1862 Restaurant.

Hotels in Adelaide district that stand out are
The Stirling Hotel Stirling, The Crafers Hotel and
    the Feathers Hotel Burnside.
