The upcoming pay-per-view fight will see Anthony Mundine retire after his battle with fellow Australian Jeff Horn and is expected to challenge to become one of the best-selling events of its kind in Australian history.

Data obtained this morning by TheShout shows that sales of the fight to venues are on track to challenge the two largest Australian pay-per-view boxing bouts in recent times – Mundine v Green 2 and Pacquiao v Horn.

According to Fox Sports Pay Per View Manager, Japhy Duldig, the anticipation among venues for the clash at 7.30pm on Friday 30 November reflects a recent revival in boxing among Australian consumers and venues will benefit from three separate events over the weekend to entertain patrons and drive food and beverage revenue for their business.

“Pubs and clubs around Australia have warmed to a huge Friday Fight Night as two of Australia’s biggest boxing stars clash from the iconic Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane,” Duldig said.

“The Friday night time slot has been appealing to venues to get people in after work for a night where they will see Anthony ‘The Man’ Mundine fight as a professional for the last time. Love him or hate him, ‘The Man’ has been a major figure in Australian sport culture for two decades and still has the swagger and skill to upset the younger Horn in his own backyard.

“Sales have been strong so far with this event tracking to be another top tier Australian boxing pay-per-view event like Horn’s last epic clash at Suncorp when he beat Manny Pacquiao. Horn still has all of Queensland behind him with many venues all over the State getting in early so their patrons know where they can watch their local lad take on Mundine.

“It’s a big weekend of boxing for Fox Sports and Main Event. We have Horn vs Mundine pay-per-view event on Friday night, then on Saturday night is the Banger Under the Hanger charity boxing event featuring Sonny Bill Williams and Stu Laundy on Fox Sports, then the world heavyweight title clash with Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury from 1pm AEDT on Main Event pay-per-view.”

Jeff ‘The Hornet’ Horn is a former Olympian and is the former WBO Welterweight Champion and has a professional record of 18 wins, 1 loss and one draw.

Anthony ‘The Man’ Mundine is a professional cross-over athlete as a former representative rugby league player with a professional record of 48 wins and eight losses, including three world champion titles.
