Merivale has lodged a development application (DA) with the Northern Beaches Council to construct a small marina at The Newport, to allow patrons to moor their boats at the venue while they are in attendance.

The DA outlines mooring pens and ancillary access gangways with the capacity to berth 14 vessels. The mooring pens will be available for both private and public use, but must be booked through The Newport, and will operate from 6am to 12am, seven days a week.

A spokesperson for Merivale stated that the mooring pens would not be available as permanent housings for any vessels, but rather as casual berthing only.

“Essentially it is for guests to use if they are attending the Newport that day. It is not for vessels to be permanently moored there. It would also be used as a drop off point for people being ferried there via boat.  Bookings will be made via the venue/Merivale.”

In the meantime, Merivale will also continue it’s summer Sunday Sundown program at The Newport, with a  variety of music acts to play live at the venue between 4 December and 26 February.
