Every year the Bayfield’s family hosts an industry trade lunch to raise funds to help cure childhood cancer.

We all know that 2020 is different to other years and in lieu of this the Bayfield family and the Children’s Cancer Institute is inviting the industry to join its 20th Anniversary Liquor Industry Celebration – Knock Off Virtual Drinks.

The Celebration will take place via Zoom on Wednesday 16 September from 4pm to 5.30pm and there are plenty of options for businesses across the trade to do their bit to help the family add to the $3.5m the lunches have already raised for the Children’s Cancer Institute.

From donating a table, to making a pledge or contributing a prize to the event’s legendary silent auction, you can do your bit to help raise funds. To find out more, please contact Cameron Bayfield at cbayfield@ccia.org.au.

Wayne Bayfield, CEO Bayfield Hotels, said: “For our family, we feel there could be no greater cause than curing cancer, and as a large family with many children and grand children, we can only imagine how traumatic it would be as a parent to be told, ‘your child has cancer’.

“That’s why we have rallied for the past 20 years to raise as much awareness and funds for Children’s Cancer Institute, as we know the work they are doing is moving the dial and one day I am confident they will cure all childhood cancers.

“Sadly cancer has impacted us all, but there is something we can do about it, that’s why we encourage the industry to get behind this amazing cause.”

Each week in Australia 20 children find out they have cancer, a classroom of kids. That also impacts 20 sets of parents and siblings, 20 sets of grandparents, 20 schools, 20 sports clubs and 20 communities around these kids, a huge ripple effect.

September is also Childhood Cancer Awareness month, so this is definitely the time to get involved with this amazing event. Guests this year include Michelle Haber, the founder of Children’s Cancer Institute who will reflect on the past 20 years and the next 5 years, plus comedian Cameron Knight.

Registration for this special industry event is free. To register or to donate a prize to the silent auction, please contact Cameron at cbayfield@ccia.org.au.
