Venues across Australia are set to enjoy a sporting boost over the next six weeks, as the Rugby World Cup kicks off in Japan.

The tournament kicks off on Friday when Japan takes on Russia in a game that kicks off at 8.45pm AEST. All the matches will be shown live by FOX SPORTS in HD, with the Qantas Wallabies opening their bid for the Webb Ellis Trophy against Fiji at 2.45pm on Saturday.

The tournament will have an extra boost for venues with all 48 matches starting either in the afternoon or in prime-time evening slots.

Saturday’s epic rugby-fest will also see France taking on Argentina at 5.15pm before the blockbuster between the All Blacks and Springboks at 7.45pm – all times are AEST.

The Rugby World Cup 2019 final takes place on Saturday 2 November and the Qantas Wallabies will be hoping they can go one better than four years ago when they lost 34-17 to the All Blacks at Twickenham.

To get there they must navigate a tough pool, where the likes of Six Nations champions Wales and a resurgent Fiji await, and then win three knockout matches in a row.

FOX SPORTS HD channel 257 HD (SD 503) is the dedicated channel for venues for the duration of the tournament and will have round-the-clock coverage including replays and documentaries as well as all the live action.
