Solotel has revealed the plans and name of its new Brisbane venue, Little Big House.
The venue, in the booming central Brisbane district of South Bank, will launch in December. The pub is a re-working of a heritage-listed residence that was built in 1889. The building has also been used as a police station, and as the Spaghetti House during the 1988 World Expo.
Solotel have blended heritage and modern features to create a pub in the style of an iconic Queenslander-style home. It will feature a traditional façade, palm trees, foliage, verandas and fairy lights to finish off the aesthetic.
Located at Southpoint, Grey St, Solotel director Bruce Solomon believe’s that Little Big House’s location will serve the venue well.
“Southbank is a premier destination – and we’re really excited to bring a fun new experience to the area. This is my third venture in Brisbane with Matt and we can’t wait for the locals to see what’s inside. The building and its history really demanded we create something special.”
Solotel also operates Aria Brisbane and Riverbar and Kitchen in the Queensland capital.
Little Big House will be positioned as a house party venue, with great music and a simple drinks menu that focuses on quality tropical ingredients from Queensland. The food focus will be on rotisserie chicken, meats and seafood.
Developer Tony John, of the Anthony John Group, is excited for Solotel’s inclusion in the Southpoint space.
“We, and indeed Brisbane, are excited to see this very talented team bring Collins Place back to life, being such an important part of our local history and a real hero piece for Southpoint.”
Solotel are now recruiting for staff for Little Big House. This recruitment drive is running concurrently to one the group is holding for Barangaroo House in Sydney, which will also open this summer.
