Drinks suppliers keen to minimise their impact on the environment can hear from two companies at the forefront of sustainability during a special session at the Drinks Innovation Summit, the new event from Food & Beverage Media, owner of TheShout and National Liquor News.

Justin Merrell, group environmental director at Lion, and Hayley Purbrick, head of digital, transformation and environment at Tahbilk Group, will take part in a discussion entitled “Carbon Neutrality 2050: Paving the Road to 100 Per Cent Renewable Energy and Net-Zero Carbon”.

Merrell will highlight how Lion is accelerating its sustainability agenda with an emphasis on sustainable packaging and carbon strategy. Purbrick will explain how Tahbilk became the first CarboNZero certified winery in Australia and how it’s reduced its carbon footprint by 40 per cent since 2013.

Group Publisher at Food & Beverage Media Paul Wootton stressed that climate change had a particular relevance to liquor producers with their reliance on water, grain, grapes and other agricultural produce.

“Reducing your impact on the environment should be a key consideration for producers and suppliers in the liquor sector today, not just an afterthought,” he said. “So we’re delighted that Justin and Hayley will share their considerable knowledge at our Summit. They’ll highlight measures that go beyond paying lip service to the environment and discuss actions that make meaningful change.”

You can hear how Lion and Tahbilk Group implement their environmental strategies and the knock-on benefits of their actions at the Drinks Innovation Summit at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Sydney on Tuesday 29 October 2019.

The Summit, aimed at suppliers, marketers, producers, retailers and publicans, will shine a light on the rapid technological change occurring in the liquor sector, with discussions and presentations on topics such as AI, Big Data, e-commerce, AR and smart packaging, social media marketing and crowdfunding.

Over 40 speakers are confirmed for the day, with the opening keynote on China’s New Retail revolution to be delivered by Matthew Brennan.
