Colonial Leisure Group’s The Botanical has launched an ‘artist-in-residence’ program, that will showcase the work of a local artist on a seasonal basis.
The first artist to have their work showcased is Lisa May. Her artwork will be presented on the walls of the venue’s dining room from January to March this year. The concept of the residency was formed when the venue’s main dining space underwent a refresh recently.
A different artist’s works will be on display each season with different art styles and colour schemes showcased. The artwork will also be printed on the dining room’s menu.
The first artist in residence, May creates colourful and abstract pieces using oil and acrylic paints on a printing press. While pursuing her artistic career, May also teaches Art and Design classes at Box Hill High School, one of Melbourne’s top-performing public schools.
“We are thrilled to have Lisa May’s art featured at The Botanical,” said Jaime Pedraza, general manager.
“Her works bring colour and vibrancy to the venue and are beautiful conversation pieces for our guests.”
The artist in residency program is just the first new concept that Colonial Leisure Group is bringing to The Botanical in early 2018. A bottomless brunch activation will be launched next month, and a series of wine education events will begin in March. The Botanical will also be launching a breakfast offering shortly.
