Australia’s best whiskies, distilleries and people were celebrated at the Australian Whisky Awards, which took place at Hickson House Distilling Co. in Sydney last night.
The event saw a number of people join the celebrations at Hickson House, with many more taking part through a live stream and virtual tasting of five whiskies.
Speaking at the event awards host and Founder of the Australian Whisky Appreciation Society (AWAS), Niko Devlin said: “This is the third year of these awards and the response each year is overwhelming, we’re now at a total of over 120,000 votes with close to 40,000 votes this year.
“It is clearly the only awards show of its kind in Australia, and it is Australia’s largest whisky democracy. These leaders of industry represent the pioneers and pillars of excellence in innovation, quality and enrichment of the Australian whisky experience.”
The night saw five award categories with a Gold, Silver and Copper winner in each category. In addition there was another inductee into the Australian Whisky Awards Hall of Fame.
