Tabcorp announced today Australian customers will soon be able to bet into New Zealand’s tote pool.
Tabcorp received approval from Victoria’s Department of Justice — which regulates gaming, racing and liquor in the state — for the pooling of SuperTAB and New Zealand Racing Board bets on New Zealand racing. Tabcorp has also arranged for SuperTAB customers in Western Australia, the ACT and Tasmania to participate in the pool.
“Tabcorp is the first Australian TAB to facilitate the co-mingling of bets into a foreign totalisator pool on behalf of other totalisator operators,” said Tabcorp managing director of wagering, Robert Nason.
“SuperTAB punters betting on New Zealand races will now be betting into a bigger pool that will produce more stable dividends, as well as stimulate betting interest and turnover. The three codes of Victorian racing will also benefit as they share in the proceeds of TAB wagering on all race no matter where they are run,” he said.
The co-mmingling will take place on Win, Place and Quinella bets on New Zealand thoroughbred, harness and greyhound races that SuperTAB wagers on and are broadcast by Sky Channel.
Trials are scheduled to commence tomorrow and will shortly be extended to all New Zealand races exported to Australia.
