Australian Venue Co (AVC) has secured the leaseholds of two pubs in Roma, Queensland.
AVC has acquired the leaseholds of the Commonwealth Hotel and the White Bull Tavern in the outback town, 500km west of Brisbane.
The pub giant has no major changes planned for either pub, and will work with the current venue teams to ensure it understands the Roma community and its needs.
Australian Venue Co CEO, Paul Waterson, said the new Roma venues will be a welcome addition to the group’s portfolio.
“Australian Venue Co is investing significantly in the Queensland market and that includes acquiring the operations of regional venues. We are proud to be taking over such fantastic pubs in the town of Roma, which is the main hub for the surrounding country areas, and we are looking forward to working with the local teams.
“AVC prioritises building great pubs for communities and investing in the Commonwealth Hotel and White Bull Tavern is another testament to that.”
The Commonwealth Hotel offer includes a bistro known for its chargrilled steaks, as well as an extensive beer garden, sports bar with 25 TVs and a jukebox, a gaming room and accommodation.
White Bull Tavern is located opposite the railway station and offers family friendly dining in Cantina 43 with pizza, pasta and kids meals included on the menu. There’s a function room for up to 100 people, and a gaming room. Locals take part in a popular pool competition every Wednesday.
Both venues have weekly specials that are loved by locals, and AVC intends to keep those in place.
Both the Queensland and regional markets have been huge focuses for AVC in the last twelve months, with the group working on several major pub renovations in the Sunshine State, as well as continuing its expansion into regional areas across the country as it banks on domestic tourism while international borders remain closed.
AVC’s portfolio now includes 160 venues across Australia, with more than 80 pubs in Queensland.
