Bacardi has announced the return of it’s popular travelling music festival – Bacardi Express – for 2010.
Now in its third year, the festival takes 97 music and Bacardi-lovers on a 48-hour train journey along the Eastern Seaboard featuring five live concerts at stops along the way, as well as jamming sessions onboard.
In 2008 and 2009, the Bacardi Express travelled north from Melbourne to Sydney, but this year for the first time, it will travel south from Brisbane to Sydney on March 25-27, with concerts in the two capitals as well as Coffs Harbour and Newcastle.
“Mixing travel, live music and good times has long been a Bacardi tradition,” said Bacardi senior brand manager, Kristie Asciak.
“Back in the 1920s, the Bacardi family would invite top Cuban musicians to ride in the back of their convertibles and drive around Havana igniting impromptu street parties. Bacardi Express is a modern interpretation of this tradition and we are extremely excited to launch it in our largest state.”
UK electro-pop artists La Roux has been announced to headline, with the remaining line-up to be announced in January 2010.
In addition, the Bacardi Express will also include exclusive “Off The Rails” sideshow concerts in Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne.
