Entries are now open for the local round of the Angostura Global Cocktail Challenge, with the winner to be flown to Trinidad to compete for US$10,000 prize money and a 12-month contract as the Angostura Global Ambassador.
Bartenders have till July 30 to head to the island2island Beverage Company Facebook page and submit two original cocktail recipes to enter, with one containing five dashes of Angostura Bitters and one containing Angostura rum.
After the close of entries, the top bartenders from across the country will be invited to compete in state finals to be held in NSW, WA, VIC, SA and QLD. Bartenders from other parts of the country can still enter, and if they make it through to the next round, will compete in the state finals nearest to them.
The winners of each state, along with two New Zealand finalists, will be competing in the national final to decide who will represent the Oceania region in the global finals.
"The Oceania winner will head across to Trinidad and experience everything that is carnival, Angostura and the cocktail challenge," said island2island marketing manager, Nathan Forde.
"Apart from the experience and all that goes with it the national winner will receive $2000 and if they win the global finals will receive US$10,000 as well as a 12-month contract as Angostura global brand ambassador."
"The aim of the competition is to encourage bartenders to use Angostura Bitters and also highlight the versatility of the product and secondly to create awareness of usage around Angostura's premium rums," Forde said.
