As we are all encouraged to practice social isolation and physical distancing, more and more of us are staying at home, but looking at ways to further our education and keep ourselves occupied.

Many experts talk of the merits of education as a way to maintain ones mental health, and furthering your wine knowledge is certainly no exception.

With that in mind Comité Champagne’s has launched its new education platform – the Champagne-MOOC, which has been designed to deliver a technical overview of Champagne for wine professionals of all levels and passionate amateurs alike.

The Champagne MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) takes an estimated three to five hours to complete and can be taken through any device, anytime. There are four core educational sessions which cover history of Champagne, Terroir of the region and techniques used in the vineyards, the winemaking process, the many different varieties of Champagne wines and how to taste them.

The classic course is completely free for the first four modules and each module is hosted and introduced by author and Master of Wine – Jeremy Cukierman.

Additional content for wine professionals looking for industry accreditation in Champagne wines is also available (49€ with all taxes included). These premium modules have additional material and videos with advanced knowledge testing. Successful candidates who complete the professional course will receive a statement of completion and certificate from Comité Champagne.

We are all dealing with the new reality of staying at home, but Champagne is something special and hopefully learning about Champagne can make social isolation a bit more enjoyable.

The Champagne MOOC is available online 24/7 and can be completed in stages, on any device to allow for students to learn the material at their own pace.

Registrations are now open at www.champagne-mooc.com.
